Short analysis: Official NaLu art and the author’s work

A fellow fan gave me the idea…

I know I said using Mashima’s twitter pics would seem like cheating. However, if we take a closer look now we’ll find several behaviors with parallels in the manga…

image

…playful but possessive. Despite the mutual faith/trust to their relationship, possessiveness is a trait Natsu displayed recently in the sequel…

image

In other instances, the manga does it first, just like the case of drunk Lucy…

…making it to Twitter

Even the most recent pic, as of this post…

…may remind us of the time Natsu gave her an even more meaningful present:

Still, other pieces of NaLu art from Mashima’s twitter feature some moments that would easily fit lovers behaviors…

image

And sometimes even haters use pics of Natsu and Lucy bickering to claim Lucy would do a lot better with someone cooler and more handsome…

But, most of the time Mashima’s NaLu pics lean more toward lovers than friends. This dynamic is yet to be seen in the manga, but just like possessive Natsu started with a twitter pic, the same could happen to other behaviors depicted in Mashima’s twitter.

Who knows? Maybe we could get something similar in the manga sequel. But, only time will tell.

The only things we know for sure are 1) NaLu is a potent relationship in the manga with the most solid chemistry and some room to grow 2) Mashima tends to depict them as lovers in his Twitter artwork

That’s all for now.
