Natsu's role in Lucy's life

So I’m rewatching Fairy Tail and fully believe the episode “Lucy Heartfilia” is where my OTP was born. Natsu gets so pissed off when he realizes Lucy is gone and goes after her alone (not counting Happy, who’s always glued to his side). Lucy jumps off a tower believing he’ll catch her even though she’d die if the timing was off just a little bit. Then Natsu actually stops his pursuit of revenge for Makarov because she’s crying and is very gentle with her as he takes her back to the guild. My heart ❤️

Phantom Lord arc was really Lucy’s arc, and Natsu’s role in that arc solidified his role in her life.

To elaborate a bit more on this point. Sorry if I am hijacking your post a bit here, but I think you’ll enjoy the perspective I have here. The following pages is arguably the single most important defining moment for Lucy’s character in the series. It is the moment that Lucy truly understood what it meant to be part of Fairy Tail. Up until this point, Fairy Tail was just a dream job for Lucy. The stuff with Macao, Lullaby, and Deliora? These were just adventures that Lucy hung around for. It was only after Natsu’s speech that Lucy truly started to view the guild as her home, as her family. I’ve always said that the reason NatsuXLucy works is because “Lucy loves Fairy Tail”, and Natsu symbolizes everything about Fairy Tail to Lucy. Nowhere is this more evident than when Natsu is pointing a finger at himself, telling Lucy that she’s part of Fairy Tail and that this is the home that she comes back to.
